What is the "Pre-Qualification" Process?

Prior to enrolment, Academia will first conduct a Pre-Qualification phone call with the prospective student to ensure the Qualification is right for them. This discussion includes talking about their work history and experience, confirm they have an eligible Third Party References to verify their competency (individuals who hold the relevant qualification and/or the Building & Construction License in the equivalent scope), and discuss the type of evidence they can supply that supports the requirements for RPL. Once approved, the prospective student is emailed details of the enrolment, the "Student Evidence Guide", relevant Course Brochure and the Academia Student Handbook.

What is Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)?

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is an assessment-only process to assess and formally recognise an individual's existing knowledge, skills, and experience as a means of achieving competency. This allows individuals to gain formal qualifications without having to undergo traditional training for the skills and knowledge they have already acquired through previous education, employment background and history, on the job training and more. Throughout this process, a students skills, knowledge and experience is mapped against the criteria within each unit of competency within CPC60220 Advanced Diploma of Building and Construction (Management) to therefore grant competency. RPL is supported with student evidence, third party reference verifications and competency conversations with the Trainer & Assessor.

What if I don't live locally? Can I still enrol and complete the course?

Absolutely! Where a student lives outside of South-East Queensland, or even those who are local but are extremely busy with work and life commitments, Academia provide various assessment methods to facilitate a streamlined learning journey. Delivery methods available to all students include: face to face meetings at our office, face to face meetings on a students work location, video meetings via Microsoft Teams or Zoom, phone calls, email, and even express postage for printed documents where an individual may not have access to reliable internet.

What if my Employer wants to cover a portion of the invoice, how does that work?

We can absolutely facilitate this! It's not uncommon for Companies to have a "training budget" to help provide professional development to their staff. As a result, Academia will discuss with you what it is the desired course fee split will be and issue invoices accordingly - In order to protect pre-paying students, the maximum amount allowed to be paid upfront by the individual is still $1,500 whereas the Company may pay their portion in full or via the deposit and residual breakdown. Academia will discuss preferred payment schedules with the Student prior to enrolment.

What is 'Reasonable Adjustment'?

Reasonable Adjustment is the modifications and/or accommodations implemented in the training and assessment delivery method to support an individual (student) who requires additional assistance in order to successfully complete their Student Assessment or their RPL Assessment. Academia is committed to providing all students equal opportunities - in addition we're dedicated to ensuring students can complete their training and assessment to the best of their ability. The goal is to create a fair environment and facilitate reducing or removing any barriers that may be present by considering the individuals needs, and support services that can be provided.
